Easily Send Digital Camera Movie Clips Through Email!
By now everyone on the planet it seems has gotten the hang of taking photographs and sending them through their email to other people. Everyone loves it! The grandparents see the new baby, etc, etc.
Almost every digital camera also comes with the ability to take short video clips. These are great things! Take a little clip of the baby crawling across the floor, or of the kids at the pool. You can hook up the little cable and show the video on tv even. Unload it to the computer like you do the rest of your photos … and what then?
What if you want to send that video to grandma? Hmmm…? Its too big for email! You don’t have a website, and you don’t want to put it on YouTube for the world to see.
So — what do you do? How do you solve this dilema? Keep reading and I’ll let you know!
Well, your in luck! Yousendit is a free service that you can use to privately and securely send files to any other email account. It will fit, it won’t “fill up” their email box. What happens is basically this. You go to their website and upload the video clip to their page. They in turn email you a link to that video. Its good for several days. Send that in your email.
Got your video clip ready to send? Good! Let’s get started!
- First, go to YouSendIt.com.
- Fill out the easy form.
Notice where you have the email addresses above? They intend for you to put yours in one spot, and fill the other one with who the email is to. I like to put myself in both. That way the email they generate comes to me. I won’t be accused by my friends of getting them set-up for being spammed (I need better friends!) and I can also control what I say about the link when I send it. And they’ll definately know its from me.
The “Select a File” box, just click browse, and navigate to the video clip on your computer and then push the magical “send it” button.
Your done! When the file finishes uploading you’ll be taken to a screen that gives you a link to your file. You can actually copy that link directly and go email it to your friend or relative. Just tell them how to use it, that they will click the link and save the file.
Stress the importance that they download the file promptly, as with this service it isn’t going to be around forever. Maybe only a week or so.
Important Note: Sometimes the file you are sending is too big for a totally free account. And what will happen is that YouSendIt will ask that you sign up for an account. They’ll give you a free one, but they’ll want you to have a username, password, etc. It’s fairly painless and you can send files up to 100 megabytes for free. Thought I’d tell you that one, didn’t want you to think your doing something wrong if you got that message.
